SAND DUNES Royal Portrush is a mixed media artwork comprising of painted fabrics, appliqué, drawn thread and stitch, taking inspiration from the world famous Dunluce Golf Links Course at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland. The drawn thread work section corresponds with the true green of Royal Portrush Golf Course grass.
Sand Dunes forms part of a new textile series of six works depicting various views of Royal Portrush and how it nestles into the surrounding area of ocean, cliffs, castle, islands and peninsula. Both hand and machine embroidery techniques have been used in the creation of the collection, as are mark making techniques.
