POSTCARDS PORTRUSH PADDLING POOL TWO Original Artwork
Portrush Paddling Pool Two is part of the Postcards from Portrush Collection created to raise funds for the Zachary Geddis Break the Silence Trust.
Launched in 2017 the Zachary Geddis Break the Silence Trust is a non profit charitable organisation dedicated to raising mental health awareness and decreasing the stigma surrounding suicide, based in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. Zachary Geddis had been a talented art student from the North Coast who sadly lost his life due to suicide shortly before his 21st birthday.
The Postcards from Portrush exhibition was part of a Swell community event in 2023 which brought together artists from across the North Coast to raise funds for the Trust. Frankie took part in the original exhibition and when she learned that Zachary had studied illustration at the London College of Fashion she was inspired to create six further artworks using mixed-media textiles and stitching to raise additional funds and awareness of the charity.
Portrush Paddling Pool Two took inspiration from a vintage black and white postcard of the paddling pool which was situated between the Arcadia Beach and the Salmon Fisheries. The layers of typical 'postcard chat' echo the notion of layers of time. Fabrics, thread, stitch, paint and a vintage postcard combine to create this mixed-media piece.
£50 from the sale of each artwork will go directly to the Zachary Geddis Break the Silence Trust.
